HOME

What is home for me? I thought about lights, shadows, boxes, houses... But I couldn't find the essence, I didn't know how to decipher what was behind this concept. I started thinking about the artificial lights that embrace us inside the house; that orange-coloured stone lamp, the expansive whiter light in the kitchen... Specific intensities and tones of light that I relate to home. But are lights the essence of ‘home’ or rather who is behind the lights? And there I stopped. It's not lamps. It's not a house. It's not some furniture or other. It is my mother. That shines. And this is the light I always come back to, with that colour, that intensity and those reflections that change with time, but not enough to stop being what it is.
And when I said mother, I thought of life. In mother earth, the one that gives us shelter and food to live.
The home garden and my mother. Many shared moments that remain there, walks of observation, of reflection, of tears, of emotion and joy. For me, home is mother (and) nature.
Conceptual project created as part of LABASAD's Master's degree in Documentary Photography.
